During WW I, sheep provided wool for American troops which fought in Europe. Local farmers raised sheep, and they were grazed on the White House lawn! Meet our sheep as well as clean, card and spin wool. Try your hand at knitting, an important home-front activity that helped the troops.

During a special hands-on guided tour, learn about the domestic help at the Foster's home, The Willows during the WWI era. Help the maid with some household chores. At the end of the tour assist in the preparation of historic foods for the cook to bake in the wood-burning cook stove. Program repeats 2:00pm- 3:00pm

Tour the Foster family home, The Willows to explore Victorian death and mourning customs that now seem strange and morbid. Nevertheless, these practices influenced loved ones for months and years after someone had passed. APPROPRIATE for adults and children ages 12 and up. Program repeats 2:00pm - 3:00pm
