Sally, Sarah and Ryan in Coronation Street
Corrie lines up an action-packed week, as the Street is rocked by recent events (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street spoiler videos for next week confirm another truly explosive one for the residents of the cobbles, with aftermath aplenty.

The ITV soap is hot off its incredible Super Soap Week, which saw Stephen Reid’s reign of terror come to an end after he was killed by Peter Barlow in shocking scenes.

The drama doesn’t stop there, however, as the events of this week send shockwaves through Weatherfield, with big scenes to come, including a police investigation into the killer’s death – with a shocking arrest made.

Fancy a first look at what’s coming up?

We’ve got three little clips to tide you over until our next visit to the cobbles, previewing the above events.

The fallout of this week’s developments, as ever, continue into the next, and with so many questions left unanswered, here are some brand new video spoilers.

Monday October 16

Sally is worried sick about Tim’s disappearance but she soon has other things on her mind when DS Swain begins to question her about Stephen’s death, wondering if Peter in fact set out to kill the murderer.

Horrified, Sally berates the detective for such a line of questioning, urging her to instead focus her attention on locating Tim.

Tuesday October 17

Daisy is full of admiration for Ryan in the wake of his talk at the STC. She stops by the flat to tell him that he was so brave for showing his scars on his livestream.

Before Ryan has an opportunity to respond, Daisy hugs him, with the two subsequently sharing a passionate kiss.

Wednesday October 18

Michael is called to a meeting with Sarah and tries to act like things are normal. Sarah, however, reluctantly tells him that they can’t see a way forward with him after his actions saw Stephen steal cash from the factory.

Michael knows that this means he’s sacked and he’s left reeling as a result, attempting to process the news.

Coronation Street airs these scenes w/c Monday October 16 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Peter’s exit, Tim’s fate and Audrey’s revenge: All that happens next after Stephen’s Coronation Street death https://metro.co.uk/2023/10/13/coronation-street-everything-we-can-expect-after-stephens-death-19658698/ https://metro.co.uk/2023/10/13/coronation-street-everything-we-can-expect-after-stephens-death-19658698/#respond Fri, 13 Oct 2023 20:00:00 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=19658698

The drama is just beginning (Picture: Metro.co.uk/ITV)

Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) may be gone, but the story is far from over – for those left behind on Coronation Street, the aftermath is going to be explosive.

With Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) in hot water after killing Stephen, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) is devastated – and fully blames him for the loss of her son.

And for others, they are worried for the future, with Underworld on the brink of collapse and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) fighting for his life.

So what’s to come? We take a look at the expected future.

Peter faces prison ahead of his exit

It’s no secret that Chris Gascoyne is set to leave his role as Peter Barlow – leaving legions of fans devastated.

Not that he is implicated in Stephen’s death, it seems that a crushing exit is on the cards for him.

Peter Barlow looks angry in Coronation Street
Peter is facing the end (Picture: ITV)

He would be unlikely to split from Carla Connor (Alison King) given how much they have protected and supported each other recently.

So, the police are going to be all over him – and he could be facing jail…

Audrey is furious – and wants Peter to pay

Audrey may play an integral part in this – we have seen her rage at Peter for what happened to Stephen.

Despite everything he has done, Audrey will always love her son, and now wants justice for his death.

Will she be instrumental in having Peter sent down?

The Platts face shame

Meanwhile, the ramifications of Stephen’s murders will leave Weatherfield in shock, with the Platts finding themselves under the spotlight.

Audrey star Sue Nicholls explained: ‘His actions have affected so many people. David is very good at dealing with that and won’t let people bad mouth the family, Gail is going to try and keep a low profile.

‘And let’s not forget dear Tim is still missing and whilst that is the case people are going to be looking to the Platts for answers too.’

Can Tim survive?

Tim is thrown into the boot of his car after being attacked by Stephen in Corrie
Tim’s fate hangs in the balance (Picture: ITV)

Speaking of Tim, he remains trapped in that car boot. With Sally frantic, his fate hangs in the balance.

Time is running out, and Joe Duttine hasn’t ruled out an exit from the show.

‘Coronation Street’s been absolutely brilliant for me, and it’s been an absolute joy to work on.

‘So, if that’s the way the character has to go, that’s the way he has to go, and I’ll just be grateful for the time I’ve spent here. Obviously, I’d be incredibly sad, but that’s the nature of the show.’

Carla may lose her business

Stephen has swiped half a million from the factory, with Carla now in a painful situation.

With Underworld in the grips of such a crisis, she needs to find any idea she can to reverse her fortunes.

It’s going to be easier said than done…

Michael is in hot water

Michael accidentally played a part in the loss of that money, having given Stephen his logins.

So now, he is at the centre of Underworld facing closure.

But the police are also going to suspect he was in cahoots with Stephen…

No escape! (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street may have killed off Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), but Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) is not out of the woods yet – literally.

Sally (Sally Dynevor) is fearing the worst for her missing husband and begs Stephen for answers on his whereabouts.

However, he didn’t confirm where he was before he died, having been run over by Peter Barlow (Chis Gascoyne).

Originally, Stephen was going to torch the car with Tim inside, assuming he had killed him.

Tim remains in the boot and, at the end of the big episodes of Stephen’s ending, Tim stirred with a gasp, still tied up in the boot.

Night had fallen but he was in the middle of the forest as he called for help. With air likely to run out, Tim’s situation is grave.

While Corrie may have revealed his current fate of being alive, it might not be for long as he faces a long and grim death.

Sally faces a race against time, but she has absolutely nothing to go on, which may reveal the terrible outcome.

Joe Duttine recently opened up to Metro.co.uk about the possibility of him leaving the show, saying: ‘Coronation Street’s been absolutely brilliant for me, and it’s been an absolute joy to work on’, Joe told us, reflecting on the prospect of leaving the show.

‘So, if that’s the way the character has to go, that’s the way he has to go, and I’ll just be grateful for the time I’ve spent here.

‘Obviously, I’d be incredibly sad, but that’s the nature of the show.’

It’s been a long road, with Tim being one of the first to clock the truth about Stephen.

In fact, he was the one to find Teddy’s body, triggering Stephen’s downfall after 18 months.

And Joe was pretty chuffed to play such a big part.

‘It’s good to stretch the acting muscles a little bit and have the opportunity to get out and do stuff that’s a challenge and flex your creative muscles a bit. I enjoyed it a lot,’ she smiled.

‘I’ve been wanting to catch a villain for a long time! Ever since Phelan, I wanted to get Phelan.

‘I didn’t want Phelan to get away with it because of the stuff that he was doing to Faye.

‘So, finally, Tim got the chance to play his part in bringing the villain down. So yeah, I relish every moment!’.

We’re not relishing the prospect of losing Tim however, and hoping against hope that the slim chance of his survival comes to fruition.

Can’t believe we have to think about it all weekend!

Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod reveals ‘huge’ consequences ahead after Stephen’s death https://metro.co.uk/2023/10/13/coronation-street-boss-on-consequences-ahead-after-stephens-death-19660767/ https://metro.co.uk/2023/10/13/coronation-street-boss-on-consequences-ahead-after-stephens-death-19660767/#respond Fri, 13 Oct 2023 19:55:00 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=19660767

The storyline has finally ended (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod has been teasing the aftermath of Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) exit from the cobbles.

This week, Stephen attempted to leave Weatherfield after his secrets slowly started to be exposed. He was hoping to fly to Thailand and start a new life with Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) but as the truth caught up with him, Stephen chose to secretly leave on his own instead.

When he got to the airport, Stephen faced a huge problem when the assistant at the check-in desk pointed out he didn’t actually have his passport.

Forced to return home, a desperate Stephen then took Jenny hostage and held a broken bottle to her neck.

As he fell apart, Stephen’s reign of terror came to a dramatic end when Peter (Chris Gascoyne) drove into the evil businessman and killed him.

With Peter Barlow’s exit from the show looming, the next few weeks will involve DS Swain (Vicky Myers) and her team investigating everything that has occurred over the past year and a half.

But while the police do their job, the Weatherfield residents must also deal with the damage Stephen has caused, as Corrie boss Iain MacLeod explains:

‘It’s like when you watch a movie and it’s the end of the film and that’s that and the protagonist walks off into the sunset as the credits roll. But obviously soap doesn’t end. It goes on and you need to have the sequel to the movie in your heads before you’ve even started telling the story of the first movie.

‘So, yes, there are wide-ranging consequences to Stephen’s exit, both emotionally and practically and criminally going forward. You need to know what season two of the tv series is before you’ve written series one, or you need to know what the sequel is.

Tim runs from Stephen on a pathway in Corrie
Tim’s fate still hangs in the balance (Picture: ITV)

He added: ‘So, in the grand tradition of sequels, I hope what you’re about to see is Godfather part two which is one of the best sequels ever. And not Ace Ventura two, which isn’t. I’m confident we’ve nailed this. The consequences inevitably of crimes of this scale are going to be huge, so it’s going to be an exciting few months on Coronation Street.’

Reflecting on the community being involved in Stephen’s final moments, Iain also highlighted the importance of that, and how it kickstarts other characters’ storylines:

Stephen hits Sarah with a bottle in Coronation Street
Stephen was confronted by multiple people (Picture: ITV)

‘That’s what continuing drama and soap does best. It’s about communities, isn’t it? It’s not just as simple as Stephen’s done some bad stuff, it has ripple effects across the whole street and that’s just a lot more fun to watch really, otherwise it doesn’t feel like a soap anymore. So, we were very keen to explore all the ways in which Stephen’s bad behaviour, to euphemistically describe it – it’s probably gone further than bad behaviour by now – but we wanted to explore all the people he’s impacted from Carla to Peter to Audrey, indirectly to Sarah who’s trusted this guy.

‘He’s been like her mentor, her inspiration business-wise and there’s a big impact on her. Michael, who’s been mentored by Stephen recently, the impact on him. He’s just had all these far-reaching influences on all these characters an we just loved the idea of all these chickens coming home to roost in this big week.’

‘I think it’s entirely unique!’, he said, pondering over Stephen’s entire storyline and the impact it’s had on so many.

Stephen holds a bottle to scared Jenny in Coronation Street
He took Jenny hostage after his plan to leave the country was destroyed (Picture: ITV)

‘What I’ve liked about watching Stephen is, yes, you could try and sit there and find parallels between previous iconic Corrie bad guys, but I think he’s entirely of his own genre.

‘I’ve talked about villains before, but I’m reminded of Alan Rickman, who was apparently once asked why he always played villains, and he somewhat prickly replied, “Oh, I don’t play villains, I play very interesting people.” I think that’s how Todd’s approached it and how we’ve approached it in the writing, which is this isn’t a man who woke up one morning and thought, “Do you know what’s missing from my life? A bit of random murder and mayhem.” We’ve watched that evolve and we’ve rooted it all in this man’s massive, fragile ego.

‘I think he’s entirely unique and will go on to be entirely iconic. As we’ve seen today, he’s had his face on cupcakes and popcorn boxes already – I wish I hadn’t eaten mine because Ebay might quite enjoy that!

‘The story, the character and the performance from Todd has just been up there with my very favourite Corrie villains.’

Stephen dies in Coronation Street
Stephen’s final moments (Picture: ITV)

Did you see that coming? Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) certainly didn’t!

Coronation Street has ended the 18-month serial killer storyline with one final death, as Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) speeding his car at Stephen and killing him.

The shocking moment came as desperate Stephen took Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) hostage, dragging her out on the street with a broken bottle to her neck.

It was pretty certain that the game was up for him as he demanded that David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) bring a getaway car for him.

With Jenny shaking with fear, a crowd gathered to witness the events, led by Stephen’s mum Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) who begged him to stop this.

The truth about Stephen’s actions over his tenure became clear to everyone, and he became more and more panicky.

At the same time, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) begged him to confirm Tim’s (Joe Duttine) whereabouts, something he didn’t confide.

Meanwhile, Peter was racing back to Weatherfield, having realised that Stephen wasn’t at the airport at all.

As Stephen pulled Jenny to the car he was going to escape in, he dropped her, letting her go.

Ouch! (Picture: ITV)

In the same moment, Peter drove at him, knocking him flying onto the cobbles.

Peter was instantly shocked at his actions, insisting that he thought Stephen would kill Jenny if he didn’t stop him.

Stephen was at death’s door at the ground, with Sally continuing to plead for information on her missing husband.

Meanwhile, a deeply distressed Audrey cradled her son, apologising for everything and begging for him to pull through.

However, he soon passed away, leaving Peter stunned that he had taken a life.

It spells the end of Stephen’s reign of murder, but the drama is only really beginning for those left behind.

For Peter certainly, Audrey has made it clear that she feels he deliberately killed her son, and she declared that he would face justice.

It sparks fears that the end is nigh for Peter. Given Chris Gascoyne is leaving his role, a spell in prison is a real possibility.

And Sue Nicholls recently told us that the outcome for Audrey will be far-reaching over coming months.

‘I am interested to know what will happen and how the Platt family are going to respond to Audrey’s reaction to his crimes,’ the stalwart pondered.

‘Audrey is bewildered, the family know that Stephen is the baddie and the fact that his mother is not on that wavelength is a real worry to them, especially with everything that has happened with her over the past couple of years.

‘They could lecture her and try to make her see sense but actually, they know that isn’t going to help.’

And with that, Todd Boyce bows out (Picture: ITV)

She added: ‘His actions have affected so many people. David is very good at dealing with that and won’t let people bad mouth the family, Gail is going to try and keep a low profile.

‘And let’s not forget dear Tim is still missing and whilst that is the case people are going to be looking to the Platts for answers too.’

Many won’t be shedding tears over Stephen’s fate, but Sue is going to miss working with Todd Boyce.

‘We miss having him around already. I absolutely loved working with him,’ she enthused.

‘I love Todd, he’s a joy, he’s delightful. He has worked so hard and he has had so many days full of long scenes and he has put his all into creating this character, I think it’s been wonderful.

‘I’ve been lucky, because I’ve had a very, very good story, beautifully written. I know I’ll miss him and I’m going to have to stay in touch with him because I have known him for such a very long time.’

A Coronation Street legend! Barbara Knox, who plays Rita Tanner in Corrie
Barbara Knox is reflecting on her time in Coronation Street in a new documentary (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street legend Barbara Knox is the subject of a new documentary airing on ITV tonight, which will see the notoriously private 90-year-old open up about her life for the first time.

Bradley Walsh, who played Danny Baldwin in the soap, will chat to Barbara as she looks back on the highlights of her television and theatre career, as well as sharing photos from her childhood and stories about her personal life away from the cobbles.

Barbara, who reached the milestone birthday in September, is of course one of the soap’s longest-serving stalwarts

But who does she play on the show and how long has she been a part of it?

Who does Barbara Knox play in Coronation Street?

Barbara plays Rita Tanner in Coronation Street.

Rita has seen her fair share of drama ever since she arrived on the cobbles. She is most known for running The Kabin newsagents and fostering young people in Weatherfield.

She looked after the likes of Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) and Sharon (Tracie Bennett) and in recent years, took Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) under her wing.

Rita has been married several times during the show also.

The character, born Rita Littlewood, became Rita Fairclough when she married Len in 1977 – but he died six years later in a road accident.

She had an affair with Alan Bradley, the father of her foster daughter Jenny Bradley – although the relationship was troubled, with Alan secretly mortgaging Rita’s home to fund his business, and assaulting her when she found out.

He later died in 1989 after being hit by a tram.

What are your favourite Rita Tanner moments from Coronation Street?Comment Now

Rita went on to marry Ted Sullivan in 1992 – although it was a short-lived marriage as he was terminally ill and died from a brain tumour three months later.

Her final marriage, to old friend Dennis Tanner in 2012, also ended abruptly after he ran off with Gloria Price (Sue Johnston).

How long has Barbara Knox been in Coronation Street?

Barbara has been a regular fixture on the soap since 1972.

Reflecting on her incredible career, Barbara pondered over the prospect of saying goodbye to it all and retiring.

‘Unbelievable really isn’t it? How the years have gone. And what we’ve crammed into the years and how fortunate I have been, in being in the Street for about 50 or 60 of them. I’ve lost track!’, she said during the documentary, which will air this Friday (October 13) on ITV.

‘I’ve been very fortunate. I can’t believe all these years have gone by and I’m looking at 90. I can’t believe that. And if they’re listening. I don’t want to retire.’

Who is the longest-serving cast member on a soap?

While Barbara may have been a part of Corrie for the past 50 years, she is by no means the longest serving cast member on a soap – although that honour does belong to one of her fellow Coronation Street stars.

In fact it’s William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest stint in a TV soap opera – having played the character since 1960.

However, he’s not the longest-serving character in a soap opera in any medium – as that honour belongs to The Archers’ star Patricia Greene.

Patricia has played Jill Archer on the long-running Radio 4 soap since 1957 – an impressive 66 years.

Barbara Knox At 90 is on ITV tonight at 9pm.

Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews confirms ‘messy’ fight scenes for Jenny and Stephen in shock ending https://metro.co.uk/2023/10/13/coronation-street-star-on-stephen-and-jennys-messy-fight-scenes-19605411/ https://metro.co.uk/2023/10/13/coronation-street-star-on-stephen-and-jennys-messy-fight-scenes-19605411/#respond Fri, 13 Oct 2023 15:59:00 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=19605411

There is a lot of drama ahead for Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) as the net closes in on serial killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in Coronation Street.

Viewers are desperate to know how Stephen’s story is set to end, and while we can’t give you all the details, there are certainly some intense scenes involved.

Some such scenes see Jenny and Stephen embroiled in a ‘messy’ fight, which actress Sally Ann Matthews revealed she had a lot of say in.

‘I really wanted it to be messy. That’s why I wanted to be on the floor to kind of recreate that Rita and Alan fight that was messy and scrappy and not choreographed. It’s not a punch to here and a kick to there…

‘So, I had a lot of input in that and I wanted to be dragged around, a bit like Rita was because that’s what we were going for, for that grubby, very real – How do you fight? What do you do?’

There’s a messy fight on the cards for Jenny and Stephen (Picture: ITV)

This fight comes amid scenes that see the true extent of Stephen’s crime coming to light, with the residents of Coronation Street coming to realise that they have a killer in their midst.

This realisation leaves Jenny absolutely terrified, as Sal explained.

‘She’s cacking her pants! She suddenly realises and it all starts to come together, she realises that if he did this with Leo then how long has this been going on for? Leo’s been dead a year, was this his intention all the time, he did this and was comforting her, it’s just a betrayal on every single level.’

With this story having affected so many of our favourite characters, they are all set to be brought together as it reaches its climax, Sal has revealed.

Stephen on the phone in Corrie
The net is closing in on Stephen (Picture: ITV)

‘I think what [this episode] does brilliantly is it ties up the last 18 months with Stephen at the centre, and it permeates out with everybody that he’s affected in his entire time on the street.

While there’s a lot of fighting and jeopardy, that isn’t all we have to look forward to.

‘It’s very much about love as well. [Stephen’s] love for Sarah, his love for Jenny, Audrey’s love for him.

‘Then what he’s done to Elaine, what he’s done to Tim, what he’s done to Jenny, what he’s done to Carla. I think it’s a really interesting way to tie all of those people together.

‘Audrey and Jenny have known each other for a very long time so their paths are going to cross a little bit more because of Stephen now. And I think that’s a really nice thing. We’ve got Sally in it as well.’

However Stephen’s story ends, it will surely have far-reaching consequences for the whole street, and we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!

Georgia, best known for her role as Toyah Battersby in the show, posted a variety of snaps from her holiday in Northern Ireland with Charlie, who portrayed Imran Habeeb.

‘Delicious Northern Irish spam incoming xx’, she wrote as the caption.

The images include Charlie and Georgia at the Titanic Belfast visitor experience, enjoying pints of Guiness and good craic, and taking in the beautiful Northern Irish landscape.

Charlie and Georgia fuelled romance rumours back in February of this year, after it was reported that Georgia had split from her partner Mark Letheren after 14 years.

Travelling is something the couple clearly enjoy. Over the past few months, Georgia and Charlie have shared a variety of pictures visiting Sorrento, Scotland and the capital for a Blur gig.

We love it!

Charlie played the role of Imran Habeeb in Corrie from 2017-2022.

Imran died after being involved in a car crash with Toyah, which came after she had discovered his one-night stand with Abi (Sally Carman), who was pregnant with his baby at the time.

For Toyah, she recently said goodbye to her old lover Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) following his return.

Toyah and Spider were going to settle down and start a life together, but it became apparent that Spider’s job as an undercover police officer was a lot more important to him, so he chose to leave Weatherfield ahead of his next mission.

Time has very nearly run out for Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in Coronation Street and this new video shows the moment Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) realise they’re at risk of becoming his next victims.

The last we saw of Stephen, he had returned to the cobbles after having his plan to escape the country destroyed. He got as far as the check-in desk but when he presented the folder that had his passport in, the assistant handed it back, allowing Stephen to realise that someone had taken the passport to delay him leaving.

Elsewhere, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) began a search for Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine). Sally remains unaware that Tim has been fighting for his life in the boot of his taxi after being attacked by Stephen, and is desperately trying to find out more regarding her husband’s final movements.

In this new video, Jenny and Sarah are chatting in the pub, which is currently closed after Waterfords took over.

It becomes apparent they’re inside because Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) and Mason (Luca Toolan) broke in.

The conversation then turns to Stephen. Sarah is curious to know how Jenny is feeling in the aftermath of all the discoveries but when she mentions Stephen being a murderer, we realise Jenny had no idea about that part.

After spending days believing Stephen just committed crimes surrounding money, Jenny is utterly horrified.

In a panic, Jenny starts to question whether Stephen could’ve killed Leo after learning he murdered Teddy.

Sarah tries to calm her down and mentions that she came into the pub after seeing Jenny upstairs.

Processing what she’s just said, Jenny then breaks the news that she’s been in the bar the whole time – meaning someone else is upstairs.

Sarah and Jenny rush out, but with new pictures showing the moment Stephen attacks Sarah and holds a broken glass near Jenny, will they survive before he leaves forever?

‘I think it will be satisfying with the audience,’ Todd Boyce told Metro.co.uk, discussing Stephen’s final moments. ‘It’s hard to talk about without giving away too much detail but I think the audience will be pleased with it.

‘I hope people who have sense of who Stephen is, even if they don’t watch every episode [of Corrie], start tuning in now because it’s a fantastic Super Soap Week – it’s a different Super Soap Week. It’s thriller-esque.’

Stephen holds a bottle to scared Jenny in Coronation Street
Jenny is the only thing between Stephen and justice (Picture: ITV)

Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) is not going to go down without a fight! The Coronation Street serial killer takes his last stand tonight, but is he set to kill again before the end?

It’s no secret that the villain’s time is up; needing his passport to escape the country, he has been forced to return to Weatherfield.

Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) swiped the passport, which has now placed a target on her back.

After Jenny catches some kids invading the closed Rovers, she lets herself in and is joined by Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), who has been worried about her.

At this stage, Jenny has no idea that Stephen is a killer, so when Sarah reveals what he has done, the former landlady is staggered by what happened to her late boyfriend Leo and his dad Teddy.

In a darkened Rovers, it quickly becomes clear that they aren’t alone – and escape is too late, when Stephen strikes, knocking Sarah to the ground with a bottle and leaving her in a seriously bad way.

Stephen then closes in on a terrified Jenny as she fears that Sarah is dead. Demanding she hands over the passport, Stephen ends up in a scuffle with Jenny and a chain of events leads to him holding the broken bottle to her neck as he emerges onto the street with her.

Stephen is dangerous and has little to lose – as a crowd gathers to the horrifying events, Jenny fears the worst.

‘She’s cacking her pants!’ Sally Ann Matthews told us. ‘She suddenly realises and it all starts to come together, she realises that if he did this with Leo then how long has this been going on for?

‘Leo’s been dead a year, was this his intention all the time, he did this and was comforting her, it’s just a betrayal on every single level.’

The actress explained that Jenny resigns herself to her fate, thinking she’s a ‘goner’.

So instead, she focuses on finding out everything that Stephen has done.

‘Jenny is definitely terrified, she does believe what she’s been told about him killing Teddy, so then it makes sense that he might’ve killed Leo, and then he confesses that he also killed Rufus.

‘I think at that point, she’s angry and wants to get the truth, she thinks Sarah’s dead and when she sees that she’s breathing, Jenny wants to find out exactly what Stephen has done. She disregards her own safety because she just wants to get to the truth.’

Sarah’s life hangs in the balance (Picture: ITV)

A fight explodes between the pair, and Sally Ann told Metro.co.uk that she used a very famous Corrie storyline as a means of reflection when filming.

‘I say I don’t do any stunts because I don’t, I’m not a physical actor at all – but I really wanted this to be messy,’ she smiled.

‘That’s why I wanted to be on the floor to kind of recreate that Rita [Tanner] and Alan [Bredley] fight – that was messy and scrappy and not choreographed. It’s not a punch to here and a kick to there…

‘So, I had a lot of input in that and I wanted to be dragged around, a bit like Rita was because that’s what we were going for, for that grubby, very real fight.’

The special episode brings the whole story to a close of sorts, with the end of Stephen nigh.

So what can we expect, given that there are still some dramatic twists to come?

Stephen holds Jenny hostage in the street
Stephen is on edge with little left to lose (Picture: ITV)

‘There’s an awful lot going on!’ Sally Ann declared. ‘But I think what it does brilliantly is it ties up the last 18 months with Stephen at the centre, and it permeates out with everybody that he’s affected in his entire time on the Street.

‘But it’s very much about love as well. His love for Sarah, his love for Jenny, Audrey’s love for him. Then what he’s done to Elaine, what he’s done to Tim, what he’s done to Jenny, what he’s done to Carla. I think it’s a really interesting way to tie all of those people together.

‘Audrey and Jenny have known each other for a very long time so their paths are going to cross a little bit more because of Stephen now. And I think that’s a really nice thing.’

Co-star Tina O’Brien added: ‘I think that the fans will find [the ending] a very satisfactory situation. I think there’s so many ways this could go.

‘Obviously, the audience know that there’s going to be some form of ending. It’s interesting though, because although it’s satisfactory, I think that Audrey also in that moment is so beautiful, and again gives it another little spin to make it feel more heartfelt.’

Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) has played a huge part in Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) reign of terror storyline in Coronation Street, having been one of the first people to learn about his fraud against Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls).

As Stephen’s story reaches its climax tonight (October 13), Tina O’Brien has revealed the scenes that have been a ‘dream come true’ for her to film.

‘Working with the Platts is like my dream come true. I know it’s really cliché, but if I look down the call sheet and see that I’ve got a scene with all the Platts then it’s like Christmas!’ She told Metro.co.uk.

The Platts feature very heavily in the episode which sees Stephen’s story come to and end, and Tina promises a very satisfactory ending for fans.

‘I think that the fans will find it a very satisfactory situation. Obviously, I don’t want to say too much! I think there’s so many ways this could go.

‘Obviously, the audience know that there’s going to be some form of ending. It’s interesting though, because although it’s satisfactory, I think that Audrey also in that moment is so beautiful, and again gives it another little spin to make it feel more heartfelt.’

Stephen has been juggling plates for months now and viewers have seen his crimes finally begin to catch up with him.

This week, police finally found the remains of Teddy Thompkins, Stephen’s second victim, several weeks after finding the body of his son.

Tina loves working with the Platts (Picture: ITV)

Stephen killed Teddy earlier this year when he began to suspect that he had something to do with son Leo’s disappearance.

Leo and Teddy weren’t Stephen’s only victims, with Rufus having been finished off by him as well.

As it stands, Tim Metcalfe’s (Joe Duttine) life is hanging in the balance, with no one knowing whether he is alive or dead.

Though dastardly Stephen is not very popular among Corrie residents, actor Todd Boyce couldn’t be more loved by his castmates.

‘It’s really strange because you do get really close to people, and as everyone else has said, Todd is a wonderful, kind, hardworking human being and we’ve just loved having him here,’ Tina said.

‘And I do miss him. So, it’s wonderful that we’re doing things like this today so I get to see him for a bit longer! But he’s very busy actually, since leaving, so he’s probably like “Corrie who?”’

Ryan’s fury increases (Picture: ITV)

Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) was the victim of a horrific acid attack in Coronation Street, which left him scarred for life and coping with a massive amount of trauma.

Following a visit to Ireland to visit his mum, he returned seemingly in a better frame of mind only for it to become quickly apparent that he’d turned to steroid use to try and bolster his confidence in the aftermath of the attack.

Initially this was linked to a new fitness regime as Ryan tried to gain some control over how he looked.

‘He’s already convinced himself that he’s getting back on his feet and this newfound interest in fitness is going to bring him out of his shell and give him the confidence he needs,’ Ryan Prescott told us. ‘It gives him something to focus on and takes his mind off all the pain he’s been through and the fact he looks so different.’

Along with the changes to his body, however, the steroid abuse has led to some behaviour changes for Ryan and he’s already lashed out at Carla (Alison King) as well as flying into a rage when a group of boys made some comments about his scars in the street.

Ryan’s rage is set to flare up again in upcoming episodes. After injecting himself with steroids, he’s out for a walk with Daisy but at the precinct Max (Paddy Bever) and Gav (Noah Olaoye) are messing around and Ryan accidentally gets sprayed with some fizzy pop.

It’s quite likely that such an experience would trigger huge fear in Ryan as it could cause him to relive the trauma of having acid thrown in his face, so it’s not surprising that he reacts badly to what seems like an innocent incident.

But it’s the severity of his reaction that’s really shocking, as he grabs Gav and pins him to the ground, completely out of control. Daisy and Max have to hold him back before he can give Gav a severe beating.

This incident, however, finally leads Ryan to confront his addiction as he breaks down in tears later and confesses to Daisy that he’s been abusing steroids.

And later he goes online to speak to his followers and removes the filter he usually uses to cover his face. He explains that it’s time to stop lying and says he’s going to close his account because he wants to focus on being himself again.

Is this the light at the end of the tunnel for Ryan?

Paul has MND (Picture: ITV)

Emmerdale’s William Ash has been sharing the love for his cousin Peter Ash, who plays Paul Foreman in Coronation Street.

Peter is currently at the centre of a heartbreaking and emotional storyline following Paul’s motor neurone disease diagnosis.

So far, the narrative has looked at Paul’s friends and family coming to terms with the illness, with everyone determined to embrace every single minute they have left with Paul, given the MND will shorten his life.

One way they did this recently was by attending Paul and Billy’s (Daniel Brocklebank) wedding. It was held in the Bistro due to it not legally being possible for same-sex couples to get married in a church, but Paul thought he had found a loophole to get around this unfair rule.

After tying the knot in the Bistro, Paul told Billy that his vicar friend had agreed to marry them in a church on the sly. They headed over and got married again, with Billy tearful over his dream coming true.

As this story continues, William Ash has been praising Peter for his constant powerful performances, describing his cousin as a ‘top lad’.

‘I saw a bit of it the other day and he’s brilliant, isn’t he? It’s so good, what he’s doing. He was just fantastic’, he said.

‘I saw the episode where he got the wheelchair and he was just brilliant. That scene in the pub. I don’t watch much telly but I was round at my mum’s and we watched it together.

‘He’s been fantastic. It’s a shame, actually, that he’s going to have to eventually leave because he’s been brilliant in it. And he’s a top lad.’

Over in Yorkshire, William’s character Caleb Milligan is currently involved in a dramatic plot with Cain (Jeff Hordley) and a returning Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

We discovered this week that Cain and Caleb had been holding Aaron hostage in the abandoned farmhouse at Wylie’s, with the beloved character now struggling after Liv’s (Isobel Steele) death.

‘Caleb and Aaron really brush up against each other in a bad way’, William explained.

‘Because Caleb’s also now got what was his house as well. There’s a lot of conflict there. And Caleb is quite protective of Chas and seeing how Aaron behaves towards her, Caleb takes an immediate dislike to him.

‘I think he says something along the lines of “You don’t want me as your enemy.” I think Caleb’s quite happy for him to be like that, but he’ll have a problem with Caleb if he carries on…’

Coronation Street spoilers for next week follow, with pictures aplenty previewing what’s coming up on the cobbles after Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) reign of terror.

Stephen’s final scenes are playing out on screens this week, with the killer set to reach a shocking end as part of ITV’s Super Soap Week, with the events of the episodes set to send shockwaves through Weatherfield.

We’re keeping tight-lipped about the outcome, but we can offer you a first look at what’s on offer in Corrie next week, with an action-packed picture gallery giving you a not-so-little look at what’s ahead.

Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) gives a talk at the STC, with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) full of praise afterwards as she encourages him to show his scars.

After admitting to Daisy that he’s been using steroids, Ryan breaks down and removes his filters from his online account during a livestream, bravely revealing his face to his subscribers.

Sorry, this video isn't available any more.

Daisy watches video and subsequently calls at the flat, full of admiration for him – and one thing leads to another as they start kissing!

Lauren (Cait Fitton) subsequently quizzes Ryan about the nature of his relationship with Daisy, with Ryan adamant that they’re just friends. Carla Connor (Alison King), meanwhile, suggests that Ryan move back in with her, much to the shock of Lauren, who knows she cannot pay the bills by herself.

Determined to stop Ryan from leaving, Lauren takes shocking action, with blackmail on the brain.

Elsewhere on the street, Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) sifts through the mail and shows Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) an envelope from a credit card company addressed to Norris Cole.

Ed, meanwhile, is shocked when his card is declined, with Joel paying for his coffee, with the pair unaware of each other’s identity.

Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) is set to make a huge mistake in upcoming Coronation Street scenes when she finds passion with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) – despite being engaged to Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).

Their heated moment comes after Ryan posts a video to his fitness account finally revealing his scars to his followers – something which Daisy is proud of him for.

‘She’s really proud,’ actress Charlotte Jordan told us. ‘I think she’s really moved by it.

‘She wasn’t expecting him to do it so soon, but and I think she also feels, again, that they’ve really got this connection because she’s the one that’s gotten through to him, and she’s the one that said, this isn’t who you are, you need to come clean, and he’s done that pretty quickly.

‘So I think it just confirms to her that they do have a really wonderful bond and connection.’

Emotional, Daisy heads over to see him, but her trip doesn’t exactly go to plan.

‘She goes round just to tell him how proud she is and how wonderful he is, and before you know it, one thing leads to another – and inappropriate things happen for a woman who is soon to be wed to another! Oh Daisy!’

Charlotte went on to explain that Daisy knows that what she’s doing is wrong, but she can’t seem to stop herself.

‘Well, this is the thing, she knows what’s right and she knows what’s wrong, she’s tried to put distance between them, but once she’s in a private space with Ryan, it all seems to go out the window and she totally follows her heart and lives to regret it every time,’ Charlotte said.

‘But she can’t seem to help herself. It’s all about the trauma bond, and it’s all about how no one else can understand what they’ve been through and what binds them together when she’s alone with him.’

Things take a turn for the worse when Daniel knocks at the door, leaving Daisy and Ryan horrified, as Charlotte revealed.

‘Pure panic, pure fear, it’s like a bucket of cold water over her, she’s back to reality and it dawns on her the gravity of what she’s done. And yeah, I think it’s just fear and panic. ‘

Will he catch them in the act?

Coronation Street spoilers: Carla fights to save the factory after Stephen’s shocking final act https://metro.co.uk/2023/10/11/coronation-street-spoilers-carla-fights-to-save-the-factory-19637613/ https://metro.co.uk/2023/10/11/coronation-street-spoilers-carla-fights-to-save-the-factory-19637613/#respond Wed, 11 Oct 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=19637613
Carla Connor in the factory in Coronation Street
Carla must fight to save Underworld (Picture: ITV)

The future of Underworld is in jeopardy after Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) actions left it in financial ruin in Coronation Street, but Carla Barlow (Alison King) is determined to do all she can to keep it afloat.

As part of his getaway plan, Stephen successfully persuaded Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) to give him the access key to Underworld’s accounts, by faking a phone call with Carla.

Once inside the accounts, Stephen transferred the full amount of £250,000 into a fake account belonging to him, before attempting to make a run for it.

Unfortunately for Stephen, Carla received a notification as soon as the money had been moved, and instantly knew what he was up to, but realised there was nothing she could do to stop him.

But if we know anything about Carla, it’s that she won’t let something like this destroy her, and she will do anything she can to allow Underworld to fight another day.

Actress Alison King recently revealed that, though Carla will be damaged by this event, she will come out stronger in the end.

‘With Carla, you always get the street against her. It’s normally about money and people’s livelihoods, and I imagine that will be affected again from this until she gets something sorted again with the factory.’

In upcoming scenes, Carla assures her employees that she intends to fight tooth and nail to get things back on track, as the police continue to investigate.

In a bid to get things up and running, she reveals her plan to fly to Spain in order to secure a lucrative deal, which could save the factory and their jobs.

Despite Carla’s assurances, the Underworld employees continue to worry about their wages, with many of them having families to support.

Unfortunately for Michael, it isn’t just his wages he has to worry about, as he learns that he has lost his job.

‘I think he’s finally felt like he was progressing in life and gaining some success with his designs,’ actor Ryan Russell explained. ‘He got promoted, everyone kind of respects him in Underworld.

‘So, to lose that, I think he’d be scared to go back to square one again. Then he’s got the added pressure of being a single dad with Glory, so financially it’s going to be very hard for him.’

Will Carla be able to save the factory, or will everyone be following Michael out of the door?

Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) thought he had got away with his crimes in Coronation Street – until booking his flight at the airport threw things up in the air.

So far in Super Soap Week, Stephen has endured a violent showdown with Tim (Joe Duttine) and has planned an escape to Thailand after some of his secrets were revealed.

Tonight (October 11), as Sally (Sally Dynevor) discovered Tim never went to the football match with Kevin (Michael Le Vell), she started to wonder where he could’ve got to.

After being told by DS Swain (Vicky Myers) that the body in the canal doesn’t belong to Tim, Sally began setting up a search for her beloved husband.

Elsewhere, as the Platt family discussed Teddy’s body being hidden in a roofbox, Sarah (Tina O’Brien) revealed Stephen’s attempt at drugging Carla (Alison King) and stealing Audrey’s (Sue Nicholls) money.

While they turned detective, Peter (Chris Gascoyne) was one step ahead, confronting Stephen in his flat about everything he had put Carla through.

The fight was interrupted by Audrey, who wasn’t going to leave until she got some answers about what Stephen had done to her.

Fully aware time was running out, Stephen took action and organised a cab out of Weatherfield.

Slipping into the shadows, Stephen managed to get into the taxi without being spotted by the Platts, who were busy looking for a missing Audrey.

Just as Stephen got to the airport, the news had reached Swain and Peter.

Peter said that he wanted to get to the airport and ‘re-arrange’ Stephen’s face, leaving Carla terrified of what might follow.

Meanwhile, a slightly paranoid Stephen approached the check-in desk and asked about an upcoming flight.

He handed over the folder that contained his passport, but the assistant then handed it back.

To Stephen’s horror, he realised the passport wasn’t actually in there.

His plan to leave the country thwarted, Stephen headed home to the cobbles.

Just as Roy (David Neilson) finished chatted to Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews), Stephen was standing a short distance away from her.

He was breathing heavily and more than likely thinks Jenny has stolen his passport – but what action will he take during the final part of Super Soap Week?

Will Stephen kill Jenny before his final scenes air?

A panicked Tim tries to run to safety from Stephen in Corrie
Where is he? (Picture: ITV)

Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) has gone missing after a showdown with Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in Coronation Street and right now, we don’t know if he’s dead or alive.

During Monday’s (October 9) episode, Tim was at the canal poking around in the water after once again growing suspicious of Stephen. He noticed a corpse’s hand float to the surface and ran back to his cab to call the police – but things went horrifically wrong from there.

After reporting the dead body, Tim was very nearly strangled to death by Stephen, who had jumped in the back of his car.

He then escaped, tried to find safety, but tripped on his shoelaces and was then attacked by his enemy.

The last we saw of Tim, he was in the boot of his car. Stephen had driven it to the woods and was preparing to set it on fire, but had to hide after seeing a police helicopter overhead.

Tonight (October 11), Sally (Sally Dynevor) started to wonder where Tim had gone. She was under the impression that he had ignored wedding anniversary plans to watch a football game with Kevin (Michael Le Vell) but when he told Sally that Tim never went, concern started to grow.

Once Sally learnt a body had been removed from the canal, she raced over with Elaine (Paula Wilcox) and Gail (Helen Worth).

Unfortunately, she didn’t have any luck but at the station, DS Swain (Vicky Myers) confirmed that the body doesn’t belong to Tim.

With her final words to her husband ringing in her ears, Sally set about organising a search. She enlisted the help of Kevin and together, they sat in the cafe and rang multiple hospitals and pubs, trying to get some idea of Tim’s final movements.

When Elaine arrived, she relayed the new information that Stephen murdered anyone who got in his way.

Realising that Tim was very good at getting on Stephen’s bad side, Sally was horrified to think her husband might actually be dead.

So, where is Tim and most importantly – is he alive?

Barbara Knox, who plays Rita Tanner in Corrie
Barbara recently turned 90 (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street legend Barbara Knox has been speaking about whether she has any plans to retire from the soap.

Barbara has played Rita Tanner as a permanent character since 1972. Before her 90th birthday in September, it was confirmed she would be at the centre of a documentary that celebrated her life so far.

Presented by Bradley Walsh, the show will look at Barbara away from the screen, and her journey into becoming one of Corrie’s most famous faces.

Barbara also discusses childhood holidays in Blackpool and how her love for acting began after watching musicals at the cinema.

‘Back in the day, Blackpool was the place to go’, she said.

‘My parents used to bring me every year from seven to about 10. Because during the war there was restrictions on how far you could travel.

The documentary also features comments from past and present Corrie stars (Picture: ITV)

‘There was something for everybody. Being a little girl, I went to the tower to the children’s concert. It was in the afternoon and it was very famous. We went and we sat cross legged. And then the little kids come on singing for about half an hour. That was my entertainment in the afternoon. I liked that very much. Maybe that was the next nudge towards showbiz.’

‘The lady next door went for tap dancing classes’, she continued.

‘She said “I’ll take Barbara”. Oh, there I was, wow. It was in Rochdale. The journey back from there you come through Rochdale and go down a very, very steep hill and I used to want to sit on top of the bus at the front.

‘So if you’re doing that and it’s dark, there’s all lights on each side. And I used to think it must be like this to be on Broadway!’.

Sally gets some news (Picture: ITV)

Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) faces a horrifying reality in Coronation Street tonight (October 11) as she learns Tim (Joe Duttine) is missing.

At the start of Super Soap Week, Sally was under the impression that Tim had prioritised a football match with Kevin (Michael Le Vell) instead of wedding anniversary plans.

In reality, he was actually in the middle of a terrifying showdown with Stephen (Todd Boyce) after finding a corpse in the canal.

As the drama continues, a calm and collected Stephen tricks an oblivious Michael (Ryan Russell) into transferring the full balance of the Underworld account into a bogus one that he has set up.

While Stephen puts the final touches to his plan ahead of his escape to Thailand, Sally starts to panic when Kev tells her that Tim didn’t go to the match with him and Kirk (Andrew Whyment).

Later that day, as the truth is finally revealed about murderous Stephen Reid, Elaine (Paula Wilcox) reports that the Platts believe Stephen killed anyone who got in his way.

But where is he, and is Tim alive?

‘It clicks with Sally, she goes “Oh my God, he never got on with Tim“‘, Sally Dynevor explained.

Once Sally is given the news that the body in the canal isn’t Tim’s, she is then shown her husband’s blood-stained wallet that’s been found.

‘She really believes that Stephen has got something to do with it’, Sally revealed.

‘She’s confused by it all – what happened? Is he still alive? Has Stephen got him? Where is he? What’s going on?’.

Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) is feeling incredibly relieved in this new Coronation Street video as he hops into a cab ready to escape the cobbles – and justice.

These scenes will air right in the middle of Super Soap Week, which will see Stephen’s storyline come to an end.

So far, Carla (Alison King) has spoken to Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) about the fact she might be running away to Thailand with a murderer, and has managed to convince DS Swain (Vicky Myers) that Stephen is a flight risk after finding some one-way tickets in the office printer.

Elsewhere, Stephen has potentially committed his fourth murder after a violent showdown with Tim (Joe Duttine), which featured him being strangled.

Stephen attempts to strangle Tim with a tie in his taxi in Corrie
Tim’s life remains in serious danger (Picture: ITV)

Also, we’ve also seen Craig (Colson Smith) and Swain witness the moment the roofbox – which contains Teddy’s body – was lifted from the canal.

So much has happened – but the drama isn’t over yet.

Has his plan worked? (Picture: ITV)

In this new video, we see the moment Stephen manages to wave down a cab without being spotted by the Platt family and Peter (Chris Gascoyne), who are leaving the Redbank flats.

As they chat about what Stephen is capable of, the businessman has slipped into the taxi and is on his way out of Weatherfield.

Just as Gail (Helen Worth) decides to call the police, the taxi drives past, and no-one realises Stephen was right under their noses.

With Stephen convinced he’s got away with it, will he make it to Thailand?

Or will someone catch up with him?

Audrey demands an explanation from killer Stephen in Coronation Street
Audrey wants answers (Picture: ITV)

Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) is set to discover the truth about her beloved Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in Coronation Street.

As Super Soap Week continues, attention will turn to the Platt family as they learn Stephen is actually a murdering fraudster who drugged Carla (Alison King) and tried to steal all of Audrey’s money.

Once Audrey is told this, she sets about confronting her son – but interrupts him right in the middle of a fight with Peter (Chris Gascoyne).

As she prepares to hear Stephen’s side of the story, Sue Nicholls has been teasing what’s ahead and how these scenes will increase Audrey’s chance of her life being in danger.

‘She arrives at the flat to confront him about the house money and discovers Stephen and Peter arguing and Peter has clearly attacked Stephen. Although she is angry with Stephen herself she has no idea why Peter is attacking him.

‘If she hadn’t got there I am sure Peter would have killed him. She hears Peter being very aggressive to Stephen and in typical Audrey fashion she tells him to shut up. Stephen is relieved she turned up but then she makes it very clear she has a come for answers and knows about the money.’

‘She just thinks he has conned her out of her money, she doesn’t know he has killed people’, Sue said.

Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts in Corrie
Could we really say goodbye to this legend? (Picture: ITV)

‘He is her son and she wants answers from him about why he stole from her. Of course what she doesn’t know is that the family are now looking for her as they have discovered about the murders and everyone is very frightened for her safety. What they find when they break into the flat makes them even more worried for her safety and they call the police.’

Right now, we know that Stephen will leave the show at the end of this week – we just don’t know how.

Continuing the chat, Sue reflected on the possibility of Stephen being caught by DS Swain (Vicky Myers) and her team, and whether Audrey would visit her beloved son in prison.

The Platts enter Stephen's flat after his showdown with Peter and Audrey in Corrie
The Platts make a discovery (Picture: ITV)

‘She would be there every week without fail!’, she explained.

‘And yes that would be partly based around her guilt. She is his mother, she feels she has let him down before and she never wants to let him down again. She will stick up for him and try to justify what he has done. Her reaction is going to cause her problems with the rest of her family. It is wonderfully complex and it is true to life if she goes to visit him, you see these mothers that blindly support their offspring no matter what they have done.

‘To be honest you get the sense that if he manages to escape and disappear she would be happy about that.’

‘I love Todd and I have to say I have a lot of love for Stephen’, Sue added.

Tim discovers Stephen in the back of his taxi in Corrie

‘I’ve got to say I can’t not love Stephen. Todd’s a joy, he’s delightful. He has worked so hard and he has had so many days full of long scenes and he has put his all into creating this character, I think it’s been wonderful. I’ve been lucky, because I’ve had a very, very good story, beautifully written.

‘I know I’ll miss him and I’m going to have to stay in touch with him because I have known him for such a very long time.’

Whether it’s dealing with a relative being a serial killer, Max’s (Paddy Bever) time in the STC or Gail’s (Helen Worth) passion for singing and incredible one-liners, life for the Platt family is never boring, and Sue can’t wait to see what comes next for the clan:

‘I am interested to know what will happen and how they are going to respond to Audrey’s reaction to his [Stephen’s] crimes. Audrey is bewildered, the family know that Stephen is the baddie and the fact that his mother is not on that wavelength is a real worry to them, especially with everything that has happened with her over the past couple of years. They could lecture her and try to make her see sense but actually they know that isn’t going to help.’

‘Audrey and her family take up such a lot of my time and I love them!’, she smiled.

‘I wouldn’t be in the show if it wasn’t for Helen and the relationship between Gail and Audrey is wonderful, you often see them niggling at each other but we have had some lovely heart to heart scenes recently which I have really enjoyed. Jack makes me laugh so much, he is even funny in the serious scenes, he is a very good actor and a lovely person.

‘They all are, Tina is divine, Julia is wonderful because she plays Shona with that kind of edge which makes me smile. I love darling Ben. He is a joy. The newer members of the family too like Max, I have had some lovely scenes with Paddy, he is very easy to work with. I have lovely chats with young Jude who plays Sam. I feel very blessed.’

Stephen looking worried in Coronation Street
Is Stephen set to die? (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street villain Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) is currently at the centre of a huge police investigation, with not one but two bodies having now been discovered.

Add on top of that the fact that he was the one to drug Carla Barlow (Alison King) with LSD and it seems that, should the police catch him, he will be set to spend a lot of years behind bars.

But will they catch him at all?

We have already seen Stephen reorganising his flight to Thailand, but will he be able to make it out of the country, or are the tables set to turn as Stephen loses his life?

Next week, the events of Super Soap Week will send shockwaves across the cobbles, leaving the residents of Weatherfield reeling, and with the police still retaining a high presence, it’s going to be more complicated than just Stephen being banged up and that’s the end of that.

The police are determined to get answers about what has happened, but what will they discover as they continue their investigations?

In the most recent instalment of Corrie, viewers saw snippets of scenes set in the future, showing both Carla and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) being questioned by DS Swain (Vicky Myers).

Could they have had something to do with Stephen’s demise?

It is as yet unknown how Stephen will exit the show, but actor Todd Boyce has already bowed out of the show, with cast members having joined him for a special leaving do.

Reflecting on his last day, Todd Boyce told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s incredible. It’s extraordinary. My last scene, the entire building of people poured into the studio to say goodbye.

‘These hardworking, skilled and really funny people. To spend all day with them every day – and I have been here all day every day for this past year and a half – it’s just been a joy.’

Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) is in serious danger in Coronation Street this week as he goes up against Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).

Super Soap Week sees the storyline come to a head as the character once again becomes suspicious of the businessman – and later finds a body floating in the canal.

And with things becoming even more dramatic in the aftermath of his discovery, speculation is rife that Tim could become Stephen’s final victim – but we’ll have to keep watching to see whether he’s about to make a sad exit.

‘Coronation Street’s been absolutely brilliant for me, and it’s been an absolute joy to work on’, Joe told us, reflecting on the prospect of leaving the show.

‘So, if that’s the way the character has to go, that’s the way he has to go, and I’ll just be grateful for the time I’ve spent here. Obviously, I’d be incredibly sad, but that’s the nature of the show.’

Even if he is bidding farewell to the show, it won’t be the end of Joe’s link to Corrie – as he’s married to one of his co-stars, Sally Carman, aka the soap’sAbi Webster.

The pair, who recently reached a romantic milestone, recently treated fans to their snaps of a weekend away in London – with Sallyvisiting landmarks like Trafalgar Square and a number of restaurants.

‘Had a lovely couple of days in London with this handsome fella,’ Sally wrote, alongside the carousel of photos. ‘Big shout out to the sun for showing up.’

How long have the pair been together, when did they marry – and do they have children?

How long have Joe Duttine and Sally Carman been together?

Rumours that Joe and Sally were dating first began to surface in 2018.

The pair were photographed at the soap’s summer party that year, amid reports they had been on a string of dates together, and told co-stars they were in a relationship.

Sally announced in 2019 that she and Joe had moved in together in a sweet Instagram post.

Sally captioned the message with : ‘We’re in #homesweethome #thelightisntwonkyhonest’.

They took things to the next level when the pair announced in 2020 that they were engaged, after going into lockdown together.

They confirmed their happy news just days after the Coronation Street set was shut down in the wake of the pandemic, with Joe sharing a photo of he and Sally toasting their happy news – and her stunning emerald ring on clear display.

Joe wrote alongside the picture: ‘She said yes everyone, convid 19 can f**k off…’

However, the happy couple later admitted during an appearance on Lorraine that things were far from easy when they first met.

When asked if the pair clicked immediately, Sally stumbled before she said: ‘… Slowly.

‘Friends for a while but then we started sharing puddings and that’s when I thought maybe something was on the boil.’

Despite their union offscreen though, the couple don’t share a lot of scenes together in the soap – which comes as a relief to Sally, as she has admitted she finds it incredibly hard to work with her other half.

‘He’s the funniest man I’ve ever met, to the point where I get sweaty and everyone’s like: “ugh, can you just get on with it?” she told the Daily Star.

‘I never want to work with him ever again. I just can’t do it!’

How long have Joe Duttine and Sally Carman been married?

The couple finally tied the knot in July 2022 after delaying their wedding several times due to the pandemic.

Sally, who wore a blue dress for the occasion, once again shared the happy news with her Instagram followers – showing a photo of her and Joe kissing in front of a ring of balloons.

‘We did’, she wrote, followed by a yellow heart emoji, which is perhaps a reference to her social media caption from 2020, when she announced her and Joe’s engagement with a simple: ‘I did’.

They recently celebrated their first anniversary, with Joe paying tribute to his wife in the form of a watercolour drawing marking their special day.

‘One year, happy anniversary Mrs,’ he captioned the Instagram post – with co-stars including Andrew Whyment and Sally Ann Matthews among those sending congratulatory messages to the couple.

Do Joe Duttine and Sally Carman have children?

The couple do not have any children together.

However Sally is stepmum to Joe’s three children, aged 25, 14 and 12, from a previous relationship.

‘They’re gorgeous kids, it’s so easy and I feel really lucky to have that extension of a family,’ the actress previously told the Mirror.

‘Not to be a mother figure, because they’ve got a mum and they don’t need another, but just to have a relationship and some part in their journey into adulthood is amazing.’

Coronation Street continues on ITV1 on Tuesday night at 8pm.

Pat Phelan looking tense in Corrie
Connor McIntyre’s new role is worlds away from Pat Phelan (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street fans will best know actor Connor McIntyre for his role as the dastardly Pat Phelan, but he is soon set to hit our screens in a new film.

Connor is set to star in the film Our Kid which will be screened at Raindance Film Festival on October 29.

The film follows 12-year-old aspiring footballer Laura, with Connor taking on the role of her father.

’12-year-old Laura’s goal in life is to one day play football professionally,’ the official film synopsis reads. ‘Laura has many footballing heroes, but it’s her older brother Thomas who’s her biggest hero.

‘His inspirational quest to raise money for charity through a sponsored bike ride, while overcoming the challenges he faces from his cerebral palsy, shows Laura and the rest of the community what determination and perseverance can achieve.’

Our Kid is based on the award-winning short film called Thomas, which was released in 2016.

Connor’s role as Laura’s dad looks worlds away from his part as the evil Pat Phelan, who killed four people during his reign of terror on Coronation Street.

Phelan was killed off in dramatic scenes in 2018 which saw him shoot Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) before being fatally stabbed by Anna Windass (Debbie Rush).

However, the street has since been plagued by another serial killer in the form of Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), who’s story is set to reach its climax later this week.

Stephen has murdered three people, committed numerous counts of fraud and drugged Carla Barlow (Alison King) with LSD.

Now, the police have discovered the body of his second victim, and it is a race against time for him to get out of the country before he is caught.

Will he manage it, or will he go out the same way as Phelan – in a body bag?

Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has called out a fan’s intrusive question during a Q&A on her Instagram stories.

The Katy Armstrong actress asked fans to send her questions in order to connect with her fanbase, and was quick to expertly hit back against a question that went too far.

The question itself asked if Georgia had any plans to have children, or if she preferred ‘an easier life’, and Georgia rightfully wasn’t prepared to let it slide.

‘I hope one day we get to a time where people realise that this question has nothing to do with them,’ she responded in a short video, before throwing up a peace sign.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t where this saga ended, as another question was submitted to argue with Georgia’s answer.

‘You’ve allowed people to ask you questions so the baby question isn’t being rude or disrespectful,’ the fan wrote, and once again Georgia had the perfect response.

She explained that nobody knows a person’s individual journey when it comes to having children and whether or not they want to or are able to.

Georgia May Foote hits back at intrusive fan question on Instagram stories
Georgia explained her reasoning (Picture: Instagram / Georgia May Foote)

She pointed out that questions like this can be very painful for people who have experienced trauma surrounding the topic and shouldn’t be a question that is asked.

‘I’m shocked this was sent by a woman,’ Georgia began. ‘It’s extremely rude. It’s my body my choice.

‘No one knows whether the woman they are asking is even able to have children? Whether she wants one? If she does or doesn’t is that anything to do with anyone?

‘If a woman has recently had trauma in this situation? If she is on a personal journey with it? It’s an extremely personal question to ask someone and it shouldn’t be a “thing”.

‘Just because I said ask me a question doesn’t mean I’m willing to talk about every aspect of my personal life.’

Beth won’t be on screen this week (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street’s Lisa George has revealed she won’t feature in this week’s Super Soap Week after contracting Coronavirus during filming.

The actress, who plays Beth Tinker, revealed in a new interview that there was a ‘sudden rush of Covid’ within the cast and crew, which meant her future scenes had to be cut from the episodes.

‘I got Covid, so I got cut from the scenes. I was gutted as I really liked the scenes as well, it was super soap week and there was a sudden rush of Covid and we were dropping like flies, and unfortunately I got it as well’, she told the Mirror.

Lisa also said that she doesn’t know anything about the rewrites for the scenes, meaning she’ll find out the changes when they air on ITV.

Elsewhere, Lisa also addressed the recent rumours that she will be leaving Corrie.

The actress previously spoke about having her contract renewed and what shows she’d like to be a part of if she wasn’t in Coronation Street. This led to speculation that she may exit to try something new, but Lisa has now said that she won’t be going anywhere.

‘I’ve got a new contract’, she added to the publication.

‘It’s really weird, everyone was saying you’re leaving, you’re leaving. I was asked about my contract and I said I was waiting, and so they asked what I’d like to do if I didn’t get one and I said Call The Midwife. That’s all I said it was a passing comment then the next thing, everyone is ringing me like, “you’re leaving, you’re leaving”.’

‘I was like no, what’s all this, no, I don’t know anything about it’, Lisa said.

‘It’s just weird I don’t even know how it happened from the passing comment!’.

Last night (October 9), Tim (Joe Duttine) was left fighting for his life after a showdown with Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).

After the huge scenes, viewers saw Stephen open the boot of Tim’s taxi, which was now parked in the middle of a dark woods, with Tim himself laying in the boot.

Stephen picked up a container full of petrol and began dousing the car in the flammable liquid.

Just as he was about to set it alight, Stephen was spooked by the sound of a helicopter overhead and quickly found a place to hide.

But will Tim become his fourth victim?

Daisy and Ryan kiss in Coronation Street
Daisy and Ryan find each other again (Picture: ITV)

Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) finally gives in to feelings for Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) that she’s been suppressing for a long time in Coronation Street – and passion ensues.

The steamy encounter happens during a week of heightened emotions for Ryan as he’s forced to face his nerves by giving a talk to the kids at the STC. Daniel (Rob Mallard) feels that both Ryan and the kids will get a lot out of the discussion about the acid attack that left Ryan scarred for life. So despite Ryan’s fears, Daniel persuades him to give the talk, bringing in Daisy for moral support.

Daisy, of course, knows that Ryan has been selling explicit videos of himself and sharing other adult online content, and after his talk at the STC she tries to persuade him that he should stop doing that now that he has more confidence about his body image.

What Daisy is unaware of is that Ryan has also been abusing steroids and continues to do so. Under the effects of the drugs he sees red when Max (Paddy Bever) and Gav (Noah Olaoye) spray him with fizzy pop while he’s out for a walk with Daisy. Ryan pins Gav to the ground in a rage, and it’s only Daisy’s presence that stops the situation from become even more nasty.

In the wake of this, Ryan breaks down to Daisy and admits his steroid abuse and resolves that he’ll clean up his act. As part of that he decides to remove the filter on his live stream, revealing his scarred face to his followers. He announces he’s closing the account and is going to live as his authentic self from now on.

Watching the video, Daisy is hugely moved by Ryan’s bravery and calls at his flat. After kissing him on his scarred cheek then his lips, Ryan is soon responding and they start kissing passionately.

‘One thing leads to another – and inappropriate things happen for a woman who is soon to be wed to another!’ Charlotte Jordan told us.

‘She knows what’s right and she knows what’s wrong, she’s tried to put distance between them, but once she’s in a private space with Ryan, it all seems to go out the window and she totally follows her heart and lives to regret it every time. But she can’t seem to help herself.’

Charlotte said that it’s the ‘trauma bond’ between Daisy and Ryan that binds them together, as they both shared the horrific experience of the acid attack together.

Things are going to get very complicated (Picture: ITV)

‘It’s all about how no one else can understand what they’ve been through and what binds them together when she’s alone with him,’ she explained.

But if Daisy hoped she’d be able to keep this transgression a secret from Daniel, it may not be so easy as Lauren (Cait Fitton) soon works out what happened and decides to use the knowledge to her advantage.

Has Daisy wrecked her chances of happiness with Daniel? And what are her real feelings for Ryan?

As Charlotte herself expressed it: ‘Oh, Daisy!’

Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) realises his focus needs to shift in upcoming Coronation Street episodes as daughter Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) continues to develop a relationship with duty solicitor Joel (Calum Lill).

In recent weeks, Ed’s gambling habits have resurfaced as a result of challenging events he has found himself involved in.

With the police continuing to investigate Stephen Reid after finding Leo’s body on Ed and Ronnie’s (Vinta Morgan) land, Ed has a bit more time on his hands and decides to take Joel and Dee-Dee for lunch after apologising for how distracted he’s been.

Later in the week, Dee-Dee sifts through the mail and shows Ed an envelope from a credit card company addressed to Norris Cole.

In the cafe, Ed’s card is declined and Joel kindly pays for his coffee, but both men remain unaware of each other’s identity.

Arriving at the Bistro for lunch, Ed is left embarrased when Dee-Dee introduces Joel.

As they sit down to eat, Joel doesn’t mention the declined card incident, and Ed manages to cover his embarrassment when Joel pays for lunch.

With Ed’s money struggles continuing, is his gambling set to get even worse?

Or will he open up to someone about the problems he’s having before things get out of hand?
