S Club were due to perform at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool tonight, but the gig has been cancelled.

Fans will no longer be able to see Rachel Stevens, Jo O’Meara, Tina Barrett, Bradley McIntosh, and Jon Lee perform on stage in Merseyside this weekend, as it has been postponed to Monday, October 30.

The arena has released a statement explaining the circumstances.

‘Due to an unforeseen technical issue which is beyond our control and is impacting the power supply, we have sadly been forced to take the decision – with the event promoter – to postpone tonight’s performance by S Club,’ it began.

‘We understand that S Club fans and the band will be very disappointed but as the safety and comfort of our visitors is our utmost priority, the show cannot proceed as planned.

‘Happily, the band are able to reschedule the show to Monday 30th October 2023 and all tickets remain valid. If you are unable to make the new date refunds are available from the point of purchase but we all hope you can make the rescheduled date.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding. As the technical issue is in an isolated area of the campus, we are not anticipating that any other events will be affected.’

S Club also posted their own statement on the band’s Instagram page.

The group have told fans they are ‘beyond devastated’ and ‘absolutely heartbroken’.

‘We can’t begin to express how sorry we are. Especially as we know so many of you have travelled great distances to join us tonight. But your safety is our priority always,’ they added.

They signed off by thanking fans for their continued support.

The concert tonight would have been the second performance of S Club: The Good Times tour.

They opened their 25th-anniversary reunion tour in Manchester and paid tribute to their late friend and bandmate Paul Cattermole.

This was the first time the pop band were back together since he died of natural causes aged 46 in April, and they took a moment to pay their respects.

As reported by the MailOnline, the band left the stage partway through the set as the lights dimmed and a video montage of their friend appeared on the screen, featuring footage of him performing with the group.

Through the show, each member of the group – who are also without former bandmate Hannah Spearritt for the tour after she decided against being part of the reunion after her ex’s death – took the time to offer their own tributes to Cattermole.
