Welcome To the Friends of Fosterfields and Cooper Grist Mill

2016 marked the 30th Anniversary of our organization. The Friends purpose now is “Focused on the Future” of Fosterfields and Cooper Mill. Since 1986, we have pledged to assist the Morris County Park Commission to preserve, improve and maintain these two unique historical sites. Both of which are on the State and National Registries of Historical Places. Through the years, Friends’ volunteers have generously provided their valuable time, expertise and talents to work with park staff at both sites. Through membership fees, fund raisers and special appeals monetary support is gathered to assist the operation of both sites. This includes annual routine activities, special events, funding for restoration projects, and advocating public awareness.

The Future Offers New Challenges. The farm, our Victorian mansion “The Willows” and our operating Cooper gristmill, located here in Morris County, provide family activities, educational experiences and open air enjoyment for all. The Friends organization will continue and increase our support. Our sites offer the opportunity to step back 100 years, to enjoy a simpler but maybe more difficult way of life. Experience a genteel manor house as the Foster family lived it. Work with Edward Woods the farm manager, and his family doing chores in the fields and with the animals. At Cooper Mill see how your food is processed from field to dinner table.

The Friends purpose will always be preserving our past for future generations. We anticipate new equipment, demonstrations, educational and interactive programs, while updating technology at the sites. Plans are proposed for a wireless tour at Fosterfields and a virtual tour of the 2nd and 3rd floors at Cooper Mill.

The Friends of Fosterfields and Cooper Mill invite you to join us. Your participation would help guarantee our success.
